Things I Liked

Things I Disliked

  • Supports High to Ultra Settings on 144HZ

  • VR Ready

  • Outstanding Ray Tracing

  • Very Pricey

My Two Cents

Without any doubt, this is the best graphics card for 1440p 144hz monitors. Yes, I know RTX 3000 series is out as well. Even though this GPU is overkill for 1440p, I have not touched them for my reviews. If you are serious about gaming and have a budget, I would recommend you get this GPU. Beware! It’s gonna leave a quite big dent in your pocket.

 RTX 2070 Super

best GPU for 1440p monitors with the refresh rate of 144 Hertz

This is another excellent GPU from Nvidia. It offers power, versatility, and plenty of features that are quite similar to RTX 2080 TI. However, this GPU is cheaper Than RTX 2080 TI.

Features and Specs

Let’ look at the features and specs it offers. It has quite similar features to RTX 2080 series. However, provides less power. With that said, let’s look at them.

Adaptive Shading

The RTX 2070 super comes with the technology by Nvidia known as adaptive shading. As I stated earlier, I will not get into much detail about technical stuff. My primary purpose is to provide the list here. Nonetheless, the adaptive shading helps to increase the FPS levels. According to Nvidia, you can boost the FPS by 15 percent.

Highlights By Nvidia

This is a feature that automatically takes the highlights of your best moments in the game. The win you got, it will be, captured. This feature allows you to share your best moments directly to any major social media platform without any hassle.

Ray tracing

For life-like games, the RTX 2070 super also has ray tracing technology. This technology allows you to have a better shadow, better character details in the game.

Similar to RTX 2080 Ti, this GPU also has the Ansel.

  • The recommended power supply is 650 watts
  • The card itself has the power of 250 watts.
  • It has HDCP 2.2 as well

Now I am scratching my head on what to share in the con section. As this GPU leaves no space for drawbacks. However, the only fault I can share with you is its pricing. It can be expensive for some people.

Things I Liked

Things I Disliked

  • Excellent Speed

  • USB Type-C

  • Runs quietly

  • It can be expensive for some of you

My Two cents

This is the type of card that everyone wants, but not everyone can afford it. You will not find any drawback in the GPU itself. The only thing that can prevent you from purchasing this is its price. However, the performance is superb. It runs super quiet. And gives you an excellent gaming experience at a 140hz refresh rate. You can quite smoothly run games on high settings with RTX 2070 super.

Geforce GTX 1660Ti

budget friendly GPU for 1440p 144hz gaming

This is the last GPU on my list for 1440p resolution. And again, it is from Nvidia. So, the whole list is based on Nvidia cards. But, I can tell you that without any doubt, these three are the best cards you can get for a 1440p monitor.

Features and Specs

Let’s see what this card is offering.

Turing Architecture Technology

I was not expecting turing technology in this card. However, GTX 1660 Ti has a turing card architecture. If you don’t know what it is, I explained it in simple words. It is a GPU architecture that is developed by Nvidia for having better Graphics and AI support. For details, you can learn more here.

You can take great life-like screenshots inside the game using ANSEL technology. The GTX 1660TI and RTX 2070 super. Also, the RTX 2080 TI all supports the Nvidia Ansel.

Vr Ready

IF you want to have the best GPU for gaming without breaking your bank, I think that GTX 1660Ti is your best bet. It supports virtual reality, and if paired with the right CPU.

IF you are building or already have compact built, you will love to know that this card is smaller in size and can fit inside your PC quite comfortably.

4k Ready

I know this article is about 1440p monitors with a refresh rate of 144 HZ. However, if you want to upgrade your monitor to 4k, you can do so without upgrading the card as it supports the true 4k.

Superb Cooling

Like RTX 2080 Ti and 2070 super, the GTX 1660Ti has the same ice storm 2.0 cooling system that keeps your card cold and prevents it from building heat.

Key Specifications

  • GTX 1660Ti has 1536 CUDA cores
  • The base clock speed is 1500 and can be boosted up to 1770 MHZ
  • It has 6 GB DDR6 Memory that has 12 GBps speed and has a 192-bit interface width. The bandwidth it can attain is 288 GBps.
  • This GPU supports the multi-monitor.
  • For connectivity, It offers HDMI 2.0B and display port 1.4.

The drawback I found in this GPU is that it has no Ray tracing despite its turing architecture. The second thing is that it can only run a 1440p 144 Hz game on low to mid settings.

Things I Liked

Things I Disliked

  • Compact

  • Turing architecture

  • Excellent cooling System

  • No Ray Tracing

  • Suitable for only low to mid settings

My Two Cents

This is an excellent, compact GPU for running 1440p 144hz games. It comes with Nvidia Turing architecture and an ice storm cooling system. If you are looking for a graphics card similar to the RTX series, then GTX 1660TI comes the closest. However, If you prefer better gaming performance, I would recommend you buying RTX series graphics cards.

Things to Consider while shopping for GPU For 1440p 144 HZ monitors and games

It should not come to you as a surprise that having the only right GPU will not cut it. You need other components as well that should be compatible with running 1440p with a 144Hz refresh rate. These components are:

  • CPU
  • RAM

You need the right CPU to pair with a graphics card to run the games at 1440p 144HZ. If you already have the core i5 9400 and more, you are good to go. If you are an AMD user, Ryzen 5 3600 should be enough to run the 144hz games on low to mid settings. However, if you want to unleash the beast, I would recommend getting a Core i7 9th generation processor or 10th generation. Totally depends on you and your budget. And, if you are into AMD, the Ryzen 7 3000 series would be the right choice.

RAM is as equally as important as GPU. If the system has a low Ram, the graphics card does not matter. SO, you need to have the right amount of memory to run the games. You need to ensure that you have a minimum of 16 GB of Ram if you plan to have the 1440p 144hz gaming experience.

Wrapping it up!

I will conclude this article by saying that I have done extensive research. After going through 7 different GPU’s, I have only chosen and listed the above ones. These are the best ones for 1440p 144hz monitors and gaming.

If you have the money to spend, I would highly recommend you getting RTX 2080 Ti. Yes, the Nvidia 3000 series out, but I don’t think you need that for 1440p monitors. RTX 2080 ti is enough to satisfy your 144hz gaming experience. You can run games on high to ultra settings without any glitch, but please pair it with the right CPU and RAM.

If your budget is in mid-range and wants to have the 144hz gaming experience then, RTX 2070 super is the one you should get.

The last one is GTX 1660TI. It is highly suitable for budget gamers—the only one who wants to have the taste of 1440p 144hz gaming. GTX 1660Ti is less potent than the RTX  series but can run 144hz games on low to mid settings. Again, You need to have the right CPU and RAM.

In short, to run the games on 144hz, you need to have the right GPU, CPU, and RAM
